Job Purpose

  • To manage the global, field sales organisation, deliver the sales plan and develop an opportunity pipeline for profitable growth (of company-branded, marine and industrial lubricants and associated services).
  • Reports directly to the Managing Director.
  • Working in close co-operation with internal colleagues (across all functional areas) and channel partners to develop and deliver optimum sales solutions.
  • Managing and developing a sales force that are both UK and internationally based within our main market Regions. (International travel will be required from time to time)

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage sales resources to deliver the business objectives. Develop and execute contingency plans in response to evolving market dynamics and circumstances.
  • Lead by example developing appropriate, effective, external business relationships that clearly progress the ambitions of the company.
  • Demonstrate competence and understanding of the markets and application sectors served along with company’s related commercial offering.
  • Contribute to the development of the global business strategy ensuring that market intelligence is gathered, distributed, accurately interpreted, and effectively utilised.
  • Identify sales team needs, recruit, coach and develop as necessary. Guide training and succession plans.
  • Ensure the effective selection, management and motivation of channel partners in support of indirect sales and marketing.
  • Provide accurate forecasts in support of wider business planning and ensure that sufficient time is allocated for prospective sales activity to build a healthy pipeline of new opportunities for sustainable business.
  • Challenge and manage financial expenditure for best return.
  • Support Finance as required to manage debtors.
  • Provides a clear vision of what customer focus means and inspires others to deliver it.
  • Promotes a culture of quality and customer service through their own actions and through the delivery of outputs and objectives.

 

Skills & Experience

  • Degree level or equivalent education in an appropriate technical or business discipline.
  • Strong, demonstrable business acumen.
  • Proven, direct, B2B sales competence in Lubricants or a comparable, industrial market. (>7 years).
  • Successful track-record of sales team management ( >5 years in a comparable market)
