Client

One of the UK’s leading independent fuel importers and wholesalers is now looking for an experienced Account Manager to join their Sales & Marketing department. Since the business operates in a highly competitive environment, the Marketing Department is responsible for exploring new business opportunities and making sales into the UK commercial fuels markets, the international aviation market and its wholly owned equity operations, by offering its customers competitive pricing whilst maximising margin according to market conditions.

Position

The primary focus of the role is to support the Key Account Manager in achieving all wholesale fuel budgets (volume & financial) particularly relating to the Scottish and South Eastern Regional Distributor Sector.

  • Execute sales strategies in accordance with wider Marketing strategy, with specific attention to Business Development in the Regional Distributor market.
  • To manage a portfolio of regionally based customer accounts. This will require the successful applicant to:
    • Proactively canvas existing customer base in order to generate spot sales.
    • Manage and renew existing contracts, identify and action opportunities within the spot customer base to contract additional volume.
    • Support the Key Account Manager in preparing tenders.
    • Understand Supply Economics including RTFO, GHG, DRFTO and CSO costs.
    • To provide input on Sales and Marketing Projects.
    • To aid in the drafting and management of contracts.
    • Collation, management and sharing of market intelligence
    • Develop and Maintain long standing business relationships.
    • Attend external customer meetings in order to provide focused account management.
    • Process and book Customer orders.
    • Negotiate process and book Customer orders made over the phone.
  • Ensuring the company’s risk mandate is conformed to by entering all Spot and Term deals onto the sales platform in an accurate and timely fashion.
  • Work with third party providers (e.g. hauliers, terminal operators, etc) to resolve any customer queries.
  • Liaise with Middle and Back Office on a regular basis to ensure customer queries are accurately resolved in a timely fashion
  • Assist the Marketing & Back Office Teams in the reconciliation of Customer balances.
  • Monitor customer credit balances on a real-time basis and adhere to the company’s credit control procedure
  • Forecast customer demand for Supply & Operations department.
  • Manage contractual commitments with the customers including performance, regular contact, follow up services (queries) and contracts.
  • Provide cover to other members of the Marketing Team as directed by the Key Account Manager.
  • Support the Key Account Manager with general marketing activities.
  • Attend training/industry events to develop relevant knowledge and skills.

Additional Requirements:

  • Able to reasonably work outside normal office hours when needed.
