An Interview with Oliver Ineson: 4-Year Work Anniversary!

This month, Oliver Ineson is celebrating his 4-year anniversary working at ABN Resource. Therefore, today we ask Oli a few questions about his last 4 years..

First, can you tell us more about your role and background?

So as a Resourcer at ABN, my job is finding or ‘source’ candidates for various job roles. This includes using our database, utilising boolean searches on different search engines, and speaking to my network to find the perfect candidate.

I also maintain and add to our ever-expanding database and keep an eye on current news and events in the lubricant and fuel distribution markets.

Do you remember your first day at ABN Resource?

Vaguely! Four years feel like a while ago now (especially with COVID in the middle of that). When I started there was only James Moorhouse and his business partner James Leigh and I was the first hire of this new team. I’d come from a temporary recruitment background in a different industry, so they were extremely helpful in getting me to where I am today.

How has your job changed over the years?

I think the most noticeable change would be working with much greater independence now that I have gotten to know such a niche industry. I’m much more confident in my role and my capabilities, and I never knew that lubricants could be so interesting!

What do you like the most about working at ABN Resource?

Since we’re such a small team, and we work so closely together, I am thankful that we all get along so well. I also like the flexibility of being able to work from anywhere in the world.

What’s your favourite part of the job?

Recruiters sometimes have a bad reputation for just thinking about themselves and making money. Working for ABN, I know that this isn’t the case and that there’s a lot of great recruiters out there that truly want to help others find the perfect job that will help them in the next step of their careers.

Oh, and also the free coffee in the office!

What has been your biggest achievement/success?

Working with my colleague Kris to create a world-class database of lubricant and fuel specialists.

And finally, what’s your favourite memory (together?) of the last 4 years?

It would have to be a combination of all the great Christmas parties we’ve done over the years! If only we could remember them 😉

Thank you Oli for sharing your story and experience with us.

We are looking forward to the next (4 and) more years together!
